KDA participants included black belters Roehl Parungao, Cherli Tugday, John Coronel, and Alma Cabasal. Although just a few, KDA still proved to be strong and competitive. Cherli Tugday won Gold in Women’s -60 kg Kumite after beating John Falgatan. Aside from that, Tugday bagged the silver and bronze medals in the Women’s Individual Kata and Women’s Open Weight Kumite events, respectively. In the Men’s +75 kg Kumite event, John Coronel garnered a silver medal after his last bout against RP team member Michael Dumayag of SKI. There were more than 30 clubs who participated in this two-day meet including KDA, SKI, ASK (Cebu and Tacloban), Philippine Navy, Philippine Army,Philippine National Poilce, JKA (Lipa, Cebu, and NCR) , SSK, DKD, and many more. The opening ceremony lasted for almost 3 hours, which was probably one of the longest ceremonies ever.
