Rene Saguisag critical, wife dies in freak road crash [ABS-CBN News]

At around 5:30 this morning, Gretchen Malalad had a live report in Umagang Kay Ganda, straight from Makati City regarding the suddent death of Dulce Saguisag, wife of former senator Rene Saguisag. Dulce was the former secretary of DSWD during President Estrada’s administration. Mrs. Saguisag was declared dead on arrival after the road accident, while Mr. Rene Saguisag is still critical in Makati Medical Center.

Mas mabigat na kaso isinampa ni Bong Alvarez kay Malalad

Nagsampa ng mas mabigat na kaso ng pambubugbog laban kay ABS-CBN reporter Gretchen Malalad ang dating PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) player na si Bong Alvarez. Kung dati’y humihingi ng tawad si Alvarez sa paniniko niya umano kay Malalad, noong Agosto 21, ngayon nagbago na siya ng tono. Sa preliminary hearing nitong Sabado ng umaga, sa mga sinampang kaso ng light physical injury, inakyat ni Alvarez ang kanyang kaso sa less physical injury. Anim na buwan na pagkakulong ang kaukulang parusa sa less physical injury kumpara sa light physical injury na may kaukulang parusa na isang buwan na pagkakulong lamang. “Karapatan din naman po ng aming kliyente na magsampa siya ng kaso kasi mayroon din siyang na-sustain na sugat,” ani Antonni Cera, abogado ni Alvarez. Ayon sa medical certificate ni Alvarez, nagtamo siya ng pasa sa ulo, nag-rupture ang kanyang tendon, at na-strain ang kanyang hamstring. Kinuwestyon naman ito ng kampo ni Malalad. Pero kahit bumigat ang sinampang kaso ni Alvarez nilinaw niya na bukas pa rin siya sa amicable settlement. Bukas din dito si Malalad pero depende raw ito kung papano ipakikita ni Alvarez na nagsisi siya kanyang ginawa. “Dapag maalala natin na ang isyung ito ay hindi lamang si Ms. Malalad. Ang isyung ito ay tumatama sa mga isyu ng press freedom at karapatan ng mga [babae],” ani Joseph Balanag, abogado ni Malalad. Nagsampa ng kasong light physical injury si Malalad laban kay Alvarez matapos sikuhin sa mukha ng basketbolista ang reporter.
